Decent Sound Set Up

Are you wondering what a decent car audio sounds like? Do you really need numerous number of components for it to sound that good? Does brand and price really matter? Do you really need high output power capacity on components you install?

Based on my experience, the best sounding car audio is the simplest one you can put in. Yes, it comprises decent head unit, ample powered bridgeable four channels amplifier, with built in crossover. Mid bass speakers upfront with a pair of tweeters to handle high frequency sound. A 12" sub woofer for bass production.

The Set Up

  • -Head unit - I prefer Alpine CDA9887 with all its bells and whistles I love the 6-band EQ (Multi EQ Technology) as well as the built in crossover. You may google the specs. Its not just a matter of swapping the old unit with a new one. Proper splicing, insulating, and cable (to match the old cabling with the one that comes with a new unit) harnessing plays a major role in such set up to ensure safe radio operation., if external fuse is required, ensure correct rating for a better short circuit protection.Hint. always settle for a branded head unit like Alpine, Pioneer, Eclipse, Sony etc.

  • -Car audio amplifier- Decide on a decent car audio amplifier with a power based on RMS . In my case i utilize a simple four channel(tri-mode capable meaning two channels for my midbass/tweeters  and bridged output for my subwoofer) Boss audio amplifier. I then replaced it with a Kicker brand with the same configuration. Mounting /installation is important taking into account the device heat dissipation. One good location is under passenger front seat.

  • -RCA cables, power cables, speaker cables - It is better to invest on quality amplifier cable pack that contains positive power, grounding , fuse and holder  and terminal lugs as well as RCA input cable.  Route power cables away from RCA  and speakers cabling. This eliminates humming and unwanted noises on amplifier output. Always check on proper grounding point on vehicle body metal.

  • -Speakers -Tweeters- My favorite mounting point for my tweeters are on the dash top corners. Mid bass- whether on stock door mounting or via a custom kick panel to deliver a clear bass upfront. If the car has existing rear door speaker. This could still be used in the new set up  or could be upgraded. This speaker will be connected on head unit per channel directly. I use Peerless tweeters and Infinity 5.25 midbass upfront, a pair of JBL component speakers on the back doors connected directly to head rear speaker outputs.

  • -Sub woofer a single 12"sub woofer is enough to deliver a superb bass especially when crossover is set correctly. My preference in subwoofer enclosure is sealed as i always listen to audiophile sound tracks. the bass produced on the said setup is tight and enhances the overall sound production.

  • Interconnection - migrate existing car head unit harness to the new one. Install/route RCA cable to amplifier

With all necessary cables in place, power grounding, audio, speaker, you can already tune the audio.

One good tuning technique is to play your favorite CD track or an MP3 file

Set the amplifier gain to minimum and head unit a bit past half the volume control. Play your favorite track and gradually increase amplifier gain until you hear distortion and back out  until the sound is clear.

Notes: Built in crossover must be set to obtain the correct sounds produced on audio amplifier.output.For low pass or for sub woofer, set the filter to 30 hertz (if your amplifier supports it else set it to the lowest allowable ) For mid bass and higher frequency -mid bass and tweeter set it to  60 hz .

Since single subs is used, amplifier output may be bridge to produced higher power output.

Rice Farming

Few years back, rice pricing is still acceptable to farmers unlike today, where it gone down to 12-14 pesos per kilo (depending on variety -ramble or long grain). Despite of exorbitant amount incurred in planting rice that includes manpower, seedlings, fertilizers, molluscicides  and pesticides/herbicides, farmers are forced to continue to strive and bite the bullet in  the hope that eventually things will normalized in the next few years. Not known to everyone, the problem is brought  by the global trading affecting both production ad selling. With the government's program to provide loan assistance to farmers, one might think that this would be the solution to augment the operational cost. Hence, lessen the  impact of cheap rice selling price.  It's too good to be true the mentioned assistance (though insignificant enough to help the small farmers) has one big downfall -implementation and monitoring. The government allocated enough budget for all farmers w...

Civil Service Exam Experience

Hello there! I just want to ask you takers, why do you want to take this test? Maybe most of you would answer "I want to work in the government." " I want to have a certificate." Well unfortunately mine isn't. I took this exam because my mother urged me to do so. I told her I don't need it. I'm too old for that and I'm not working (in an actual office), Well I do work online (if that's what you will ask).  Ok then after so many years of perseverance (Yes that's the word), I gave in! I took the exam. I applied last August 22, 2014 in Cabanatuan City for Civil Service Professional Exam (October 26). I already filled in the application form given by my husband's uncle who works in the government. I had with me the following:  1. Application form (can be downloaded here:  http://www.csc.gov.ph/2014-02-21-08-28-23/pdf-files/category/174-csform100-revised-2016.html )  front   back 2. 4 copies of Philippine passport...
