Hello there!
I just want to ask you takers, why do you want to take this test?
Maybe most of you would answer
"I want to work in the government."
" I want to have a certificate."
Well unfortunately mine isn't. I took this exam because my mother urged me to do so. I told her I don't need it. I'm too old for that and I'm not working (in an actual office), Well I do work online (if that's what you will ask). Ok then after so many years of perseverance (Yes that's the word), I gave in! I took the exam.
I applied last August 22, 2014 in Cabanatuan City for Civil Service Professional Exam (October 26). I already filled in the application form given by my husband's uncle who works in the government.
I had with me the following:
1. Application form (can be downloaded here: http://www.csc.gov.ph/2014-02-21-08-28-23/pdf-files/category/174-csform100-revised-2016.html)
* Make sure you keep it safe!

So what did I do before the exam, like most of you, I did search the net for a reviewer. There were so many sites. Some sells it and some offers it for free.
The only reviewer that I bought was this reviewer, it is available in National Bookstore.
To tell you honestly most of the reviewers really is no good, well in a way maybe but the questions itself no. So, if you're going to ask me for my opinion whether to buy online reviewers, it's up to you. The exam that I took versus the reviewer that I read only matches 1 question! Though the reviewer itself will prepare you for what the exam might look like.
It's just like taking the college entrance exam, questions are mostly in English, there is some in Filipino. Vocabulary, Clerical I think less than 5 questions, Math you better review graphs and algebra. Paragraph organization and Reading comprehension, General Information and Philippine Constitution as far as I remember less than 5 questions. Clerical less than 5 questions.
I can't say that I'm confident that I would pass. I actually didn't review (as in review if you know what I mean) whatever is in that reviewer. I did scan the pages like in Math, I would look at the questions and then at the answer pages then say "Ah okay, that's the answer, why is it that I cannot remember that? May be I was absent when our teacher discussed it." (haha)
To tell you honestly I found the test really hard, I don't know maybe it's just me or what. I was observing my co-takers and I told myself, Wow! they did review! Lucky for them and Sorry for me!
I wasn't sure to any of my answers! I was very sure that I will fail!
After the exam the teacher/watcher will give you instructions on how to check whether you pass or fail. Since we also had time to chat he suggested that IF we fail the exam it is better to take the Sub Professional test, it is way easier compared to Professional. So then, that gave me hope! I told myself I'll just take the Sub Professional Exam on May 2015.
I waited for almost 2 months for the result and I was shocked to see my name on the list. I cried, I laughed. I hurriedly called my mom to tell her that I did passed the exam. I really can't explain my feeling during that time. My kids told me "Mom, you're crazy!" Yes! Indeed I was crazy! I told my husband I don't care what my percentage is, as long as I passed the exam.
My tips for you takers:
1) Pray. Pray really hard.
2) Take time to scan the pages of your reviewer or whatever you have to refresh your memory, especially the math problems.
3) Use your common sense.
That's it!
Good Luck to you all
